Supernatural - "The Bad Place" - Season 13 Episode 9 Review

Can you believe we have to wait a full month and ten days until we get the next episode? I know I should be used to the whole winter break stuff the CW does around the holidays, but damn...this will be rough. I feel like so much yet so little happened in this episode. I can’t even lie and pretend like I remember the psychic girl’s name, but we see her come back this episode. But, that was expected since Jodi set that up at the end of the episode psychic girl was on. So, from now forward, we will only be referring to her as PG for psychic girl. Scratch that, I remember now, it’s Patience. Apparently that’s what I needed to remember her name as well. It’s certainly something her dad needs to learn as well. You think he would get used to this whole “I come from a family of psychics” thing. I’m just glad she trusted herself when she got the vision of Jodi and chose to go to her.

While I am confessing things, I must admit I was a little disappointed at being misled when it comes to Jack’s intentions at the start of this episode. I kind of liked the idea of Jack going rogue and being evil like his dad. It sure would have been a lot more interesting than the emo crap we have been seeing from him. But I guess the reality of the situation was pretty sweet too. The whole moment in the car after he was reunited with the Winchester’s and they professed they’re all family was, as the kids say, totes adorbs.

Then we have Derrick, the dreamwalker who Jack had gone to see about “The Bad Place”. We didn’t know at the start of the episode, but Jack’s intention wasn’t to find his dad, but Mary instead. But we can’t blame Dean for thinking otherwise. I mean, part angel or not, his dad is the ultimate fallen and genes speak wonders for our personalities. Luckily for us, so does environment and all of Sam’s coddling, so it seemed to balance things. I must admit though, the angels are pretty messed up for killing Derrick. I’m sure he could have been more help to them had they given it time and not had been so hell bent on finding Jack. I’m just grateful Jack heard of Kaia from Derrick before the angels did him in, because seeing him awkwardly try to profess his non-existent drug use was everything. Being street smart, Kaia did a great job trying to escape from Jack once he helped her escape rehab. Unfortunately, Dean’s patience had run out the second he found his mom was alive and he completely lost his cool. Full on psycho mode. Quite the opposite of what Hunters stand for, but honestly, can you blame him? He’s lost her before and refuses to again. Poor Mary though, she is some serious trouble. And I am not quite sure after all the drama that went down between getting Kaia and fighting off the angels that Jack even got to her in time. When they show him there at her feet she seemed to have succumbed to the pain. And now we have to wait over a freaking month to see just how grave her condition is!

There are a few other mysteries this episode leaves us with that make me absolutely bonkers! When Jack used Kaia to get to the world Mary is in, what exactly happened to her? We only see her on the side of the road. We see the Winchester’s in a world that looks quite similar to Jurassic Park. After everything they have been through fighting off all kinds of monsters, I’m not sure they can handle dinosaurs. And I am pretty sure they’re unarmed so that makes things way worse.

I really can’t wait until January. I miss Castiel, as he hasn’t been around again. And dare I say I miss Lucifer? He cracks me up and I can’t wait to see what revenge he has in mind for the crazy alternate Michael. Of course I can’t wait to see how the Winchester’s get themselves out of their dino dilemma either.

Supernatural - "War of the Worlds" - Season 13 Episode 7 Recap and Review

It seems as though we may have yet another villain on our hands. In the parallel universe Mary and Lucifer are trapped, and it seems Archangel Michael may not be the highly respected Angel we are familiar with. Is it possible for him to be sadistic? Because he certainly seems to fit the bill. I was quite amused to see this universe has a Kevin, I missed him, even if he does help this creepy Michael take Lucifer’s grace. Given the fact we still need to find out what the heck happened to Jack, and I don’t see that happening soon. Asmodeus definitely hasn’t given up his search for him. And now the guys have discovered that Ketch may be back in the game too? Yikes, this is getting crazy. But, nothing is too surprising in the Supernatural world. And here I go, rooting for Lucifer again. I found myself silently cheering as he made his escape from that universe, and their twisted version of Michael.

Just when I was hoping to get answers about Mary we see a witch reach out to the guys with news of Ketch. He’s been slaughtering women in search of Rowena. We all know she’s dead, so this lead me to believe perhaps this is a clone of Ketch, and possible the BML has a slew of such clones, waiting to take his place. Then when it came back from commercial, all my questions are answered when we find out Ketch was a Twin, Alexander. And as his brother Alexander confesses, the Ketch we know was the Donnie Osmond of the family. We also learned that this twin left the school for the BML to kill monsters, becoming a hunter in his own right.

The plot twist I wasn't expecting? Lucifer coming to save Castiel. They came to try to strong-arm Castiel into helping them enslave Jack into a life of creating Angels. We obviously know Castiel would have willingly died fighting the angels to protect Jack from that. Lucifer’s time in the other universe seems to have softened him up a bit. He seems to not be as self-serving as he has been in the past. He is still manipulative, but he wouldn’t be Lucifer if he wasn’t. But I’m glad he sees the evil in that other Michael. I just hope that Castiel helps him, because dang, he’s right. If this Michael makes it to our universe everyone is screwed. I really wish we knew what the heck was cloaking Jack. Nobody can sense this kid. It makes me wonder if maybe God finally came back? But I sincerely doubt that considering it’s been so long.

Sam seriously needs a hobby though, because come on. Jack has barely been gone five minutes and he already has a new project. He seems to have taken the same, soft, protective role over the new Ketch. Dean, well, he could care less.

I was really looking forward to the showdown between Lucifer and Asmodeus but without his grace, Lucifer might as well submit and save himself the fight. It’s a good thing the guys weren’t too far behind their trail though. But of course, it’s never easy. In this instance, while taking on some demons, were nearly defeated. But new Ketch came just in time to save the day, further making Dean question his back story. And he was right to do so. His story was complete crap, it was Ketch. Rowena had done the same spell for him as she had used on herself to keep coming back from the dead. Just when I was beginning to believe Ketch was telling the truth about being a good guy, we see him on team Asmodeus. Really? That guy is in the fight for who is the bigger jerk with this other Michael. So let’s hope those two take each other down and leave Cas out. I mean seriously, we just got him back. I can take him being imprisoned by Asmodeus but, he better not get sent into the nothingness again.

Supernatural - "Tombstone" - Season 13 Episode 6 Recap and Review

Written by Kaylynn Kasandra

This week’s episode had just the right amount of cheesy humor, which is one of my favorite things about this show. I was way too excited to see the reunion between the guys and Castiel, since that was where last week left off. I was expecting a bit more of a fuss, so it made me chuckle when Dean left it simple with, “Welcome back Pal.” But he certainly didn’t hide how happy he was. I must say, Jack caught up fast. He already knows how to search for cases, even if he may not quite understand all the monsters quite yet. It was nice to see him seemingly part of the crew now. It was quite amusing to see him pitch his ideas to the guys, even if it was off. But, I have to say it was more amusing to see how excited Dean was about the idea of the case being in Dodge City. Seeing the guys in full Western gear was pretty funny, I can’t lie. Dean’s appreciation for all things Western definitely payed off. It’s because of him they were able to identify the ghoul as taking form of an old cowboy, Dave Mather.

Jack luckily had been paying attention when they were questioning the town undertaker, and noticed the ghoul is her boyfriend. Smart move on the ghoul's part to pick an undertaker as a live-in girlfriend. Easy access to bodies that’s for sure. Unfortunately for Dave, he killed the wrong deputy once he knew they were closing in. The deputy was the sergeant's nephew and he wasn’t leaving the death of his nephew alone.

What I thought was going to be a very lighthearted episode quickly changed moods. Jack once again lost control of his power. Trying to protect the guys from Dave, he pushed a little too hard and ended up killing a security guard in the process. Jack, being just as emo as Sam obviously takes it hard. Way harder than we could have expected. Dean tells Cas and Sam to take Jack back home and that he’d finish up. Which, I must say he did pretty flawlessly. Joining forces with the sergeant, they track Dave down. Though Dave isn’t far behind them and ends up stealing Dean’s back up, literally. It was pretty funny watching Dean’s reluctance to follow the sergeant's path through the ghoul’s tunnel. You can’t blame him either because that seemed to be exactly what he wanted. When Dean got to the end of the tunnel he saw it led back to the morgue where Athena and the sergeant are waiting like sitting ducks.

After releasing Athena and turning to assess the sergeant, Dean was cornered, weaponless by ghoulish Dave. Luckily for Dean he was blocking Dave’s view of the sergeant who had his weapon ready. Just when the ghoul thought he was going to win, Dean steps aside like a boss allowing the sergeant to get his revenge. You really can’t expect any less from Dean. He knows what it feels like to want to get revenge on someone or something that has killed someone he loves. This sergeant seemed pretty mellow though. He didn’t seem to want to question anything and took Dean’s suggested cover story. It was sweet that Dean made sure the ghoul would take the wrap for the guy Jack accidentally killed.

Sadly, it wouldn’t help. Nothing would. Even Castiel’s pep talk didn’t help Jack feel better. Jack being the ever-emotional half angel he is decides everyone would be better off without him. In what I am sure he thought was a selfless act he knocks everyone out cold and takes off. What a lovely welcome home from Castiel, eh? Like he hasn’t dealt with enough drama between his own emotional turmoil and from the Winchesters, now Cas will have to take on Jack’s too. It should be interesting to see how this plays out. I mean, Jack basically still knows nothing about the world other than what he’s observed from the guys. Now he’s going out into a world where everyone of supernatural pull wants him for themselves. This will get very messy.
