With CBS's recent announcement of a new Star Trek TV series officially on the horizon, we figure it's the perfect time to wildly speculate as to what it will be about! When will it be set? Who will be cast? What universe will it be in?! We try to guess at the answer to these questions and more. For much needed help in this giant discussion we are joined buy Chris Mitchell from the Ten Forward Podcast, and Ryan Porter from Positively Nerdy! Episode 48 - Halloween Villains Special

October 29, 2015

In this special early release of A Play On Nerds we discuss all of our favorite villains of movies, TV, comics and video games, in honor of Halloween weekend!

Before the feature we discuss some Nerdy News with a tale of a possible real life zombie attack on an airliner and also some Star Wars: The Force Awakens fan theories.

Steve tests Jarman's knowledge of villains with Sidekick Showdown where he names the villain's sidekick/minion and we have to guess what villain they roll with.

Jarman also plays Villainous Voices, where he plays the sound clip of the villain and you have to guess what villain made those villainous utterances. There are some real softballs in there...

At the end, we have some great trailers to review, with the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, and the upcoming Seth Rogan/Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Anthony Mackie vehicle, The Night Before.

Episode 42 - Fallout Shelters, Bat Dung and Killer Gods

First up it's Nerdy News, where we discuss the passing of Nintendo's CEO, Satoru Iwata, as well as the perplexing relationship between bats and pitcher-plants. Also, those creepy lights on the planet Ceres are still causing problems for our friends at NASA...

For our main feature, Steve and Jarman, along with our special guest co-host, Patrick, jump into the world of Bethesda's Fallout. It's an awesome game series with it's fourth (technically 5th) installment coming out soon. With all the buzz over the new game, we thought we would discuss the history of the game and what makes it awesome.

For Trailer Reviews we have the great bounty from San Diego Comic Con; a new Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, and the very first Suicide Squad trailer. Come hear our take on them!

Episode 41 - "Jurassic" Sized Episode

June 19, 2015

Steve and Jarman jump head on into the world of real and fake dinosaurs. First we discuss some fun crazy facts about the real deals that walked this earth over 65 million years ago, then we jump into the genetically modified soup of the Jurassic Park franchise; reviewing the first three films. We throw in our totally valid opinions on Jeff Goldblum's strange laugh, tons of random trivia on the films, and utter let-down of the third film.

Only then do we jump into a spoiler-filled review of Jurassic World. We give you plenty of warning for spoiler time so feel free to listen up to that point if you haven't seen Jurassic World yet or listen on if you just don't care.

Before the dinos we dish out some more bizarre Nerdy News, then end the show with some Trailer Reviews of The Martian and Into the Grizzly Maze.
