Supernatural - Season 12 Two-Hour Finale - Recap and Review

May 19, 2017

Source: The CW

I can’t even handle this show anymore. My heart is crushed. Okay, so maybe I am being dramatic, but holy feels! This first half of the finale was emotional on its own, and then you couple it with all that went down in part two and I can’t deal. It was no surprise that the finale ended with a cliffhanger. And now I am going to be obsessively waiting on season thirteen as I am sure most of you will be as well. Watching Dean try to save his mom was quite heart-wrenching. I can’t even lie, I wasn’t really sure if he would pull it off. And seeing Dean get injured right off the bat didn’t give me the confidence that they’d come out winning. Luckily, I was proven wrong. Dean quite literally pulled out the big guns (grenades) and was able to break out of the bunker with Sam and that evil British Men of Letters woman in tow.

With the help of said evil woman Dean stays behind to get inside his mom’s head so he can free her from the spell she is under. It was only a matter of time before I knew Ketch would track Mary down, and I was right. His feelings for her made him easy prey when he goes to save her. And I cheered out loud when Mary snapped out of her spell and jumped in to save Dean. His guilt trip worked like a charm! Watching her put a couple bullets into Ketch was beyond satisfying.

And can we talk about how badass Sam was this episode? He steps up big time and leads the crusade against the BMOL. It was nice seeing him not wimp out, even if he did crumble slightly at the mention of Lucifer’s return. Watching him this season, he’s growing on me more and more. So long as he doesn’t go back to wimpy, over-emotional Sam. And seeing him deny the BMOL the help they requested was awesome! I wasn’t sure what he would say at first. When he said, “pass” and proceeded to off the big boss lady… classic. It wasn’t too surprising for me that Crowley wasn’t dead. It was implied before that he moved his soul to a rat, and we found out that is exactly what he did.

We finally got to see Kelly and Castiel again, hiding away in the Pacific Northwest. And right outside their hiding spot, we finally get to see this cosmic threat that we have been waiting for. There was a rip in the fabric of space and time. And that crazy alternate universe on the other side reminded me a lot of the purgatory we saw in the past. I had a feeling it would be Bobby who Castiel ran into when he was there. My response wasn’t that different from Dean’s when he told them about his angel killing bullets. That would definitely come in handy! When they head back to our reality and Lucifer had caught up to them, I had no idea what to expect from their showdown. And I am not going to lie, this crazy show needs to stop killing off my favorite people. First we found out Rowena was dead and couldn’t help return Lucifer to the cage. And then, during their plan to trap Lucifer in the alternate reality, Crowley did the most unselfish thing and killed himself. Sadly, his selfless act wouldn’t save my favorite angel Castiel. Thus why I am so devastated. I can’t even comprehend this show without him. Was Bobby’s appearance foreshadowing to the fact we would lose yet another beloved character? I would love to know what you all think. All I am saying is that if this creepy God of a child doesn’t bring Castiel back, I will be pissed. And he better not bring him back as a bad guy, I don’t think I could handle that either.

Source: The CW

I have a feeling a major plot for next season will include trying to bring their mom Mary back from the alternative reality she was drug into by Lucifer. Hopefully she and Bobby will be able to join forces and make some serious things happen over there. I’m just glad she has the brass knuckles with her, it’s better than being completely effed with no form of defense. The nephilim is growing at quite an alarming rate, which is giving me Darkness vibes. So let’s hope like the Darkness, Jack will be misunderstood and not inherently evil. But the way they made it look when the finale wrapped up, it’s hard to say. The show is great at making us feel like it will go one way and then switches things up. And I really, really can’t wait to see how next season plays out. I have a feeling it’s going to be just as good, if not better than the God vs. Darkness plot we saw before.

Supernatural - "There's Something About Mary" - Season 12 Episode 21 Recap and Review

May 12, 2017

Source: The CW

This episode starts quite intensely, once again losing a character we may have grown to like: Eileen. The casting directors must be super busy, given the constant flow of death in this show. And to see that Ketch had used Hell Hounds… quite ruthless. But not as ruthless as what we learned the British Men of Letters (BML) had done to Mary. They had turned her into some kind of mindless drone. Able to control her every move, they turned her into the worst thing that they could. And now, she is killing hunters. To see such a typically strong character crumble once she realizes what she’s done was kind of sad. I thought maybe it was just a part of a plan to get away while she still had her wits about her. And it was, kind of. But, at the same time it reminded me of Sam when he was at his lowest; constantly battling the need to give in versus the need to survive.

Source: The CW

I couldn’t be too surprised to find out Crowley had assisted Ketch in getting a Hell Hound. The very one he used to kill Eileen. The guys won’t let that slide when they catch wind. And then to see he is also quite cozy to the evil woman from the BML, yikes. But, we all know when Crowley thinks he is in a good position to win, he gets knocked in the opposite direction. And it didn’t take too long to see that go down. Lucifer’s little helper not only solved the spell put on him. But he reversed its power, leaving Lucifer in complete control of Crowley, and free. Not good for anybody. Especially knowing that Dagon was killed and his child is in the hands of the angels. Oh, and did I mention the threat made by Crowley about taking Lucifer’s child as his own? Yeah, you probably don’t want to do that to Lucifer.

Source: The CW

I was just happy to see that Eileen had written the guys a letter to warn them about the BML coming after her after bugging her room. She may not have been safe, but maybe the guys will be, thanks to her. At least now they knew to look for a bug in the bunker. They also have further proof Ketch was lying. And I still can’t tell if Ketch will stay on the side of the BML or at some point decide to protect himself, and perhaps Mary. He did seem slightly soft for a second when Mary was pleading with him. He is used to being used as a tool for killing by the BML, and she isn’t.

Source: The CW

The BML were thinking they knew where the Winchester guys would be, and they did. But they had no clue they had set it up. They captured the ruthless woman who had once captured Sam (Lady Toni Bevell). I loved the way they had the Crowley/Lucifer drama echoing the drama going on in the car with the Winchesters. I mean, both Crowley and the Winchesters thought they were in control, but soon found out quite the opposite was true. We see Lucifer finally “off” Crowley; something I am sure he has been wanting to do for ages. And the fight at the loft between the guys and the BML was pretty sweet. But the sad realization that their mom was owned by the BML was no bueno! I can’t even imagine what I would think! And to have her leave you for dead with the psycho lady of the BML, Lady Bevell, yikes. Let’s hope she is more focused on escaping than hurting them. And the fact that Ketch took Mary with him has me hoping he she will eventually fight and it’s all an act. I just hope they all know how screwed they are with Lucifer on the search for his kid. Next week will be a big one for sure!

Supernatural - "Twigs & Twine & Tasha Banes" - Season 12 Episode 20 Review

May 9, 2017

Apparently the show runners for Supernatural are ruthless. Not only do we get reintroduced to the easy-to-love Witch Twins, but their world gets torn apart just as fast. Why must we always see characters either die or get turned to darkness? I was hoping these two would be spared such a fate, but this episode proved that wrong. It was sad to see Max and Alicia crumble. They could have been great assets in the fight against the upcoming cosmic doom we are waiting for. And perhaps, against all odds, they may still be? I guess we will have to wait on that to see.

Source: The CW

You really can’t blame Max though; losing your mother and sister like that could make anyone snap. And the magic in the creepy woman’s ring that she offered, that was responsible for their deaths, was some strong stuff. I can only imagine being a strong witch, warlock, or whatever your preferred term, that you would have felt pulled to it. I just can’t believe Dean and Sam just left such a crazy object behind. A ring that enslaves your soul and gives you power wouldn’t be something I would want casually lying about. I can only wonder how long it will take for them to catch on to that mistake.

Source: The CW

As far as things go with Mary. I was happy to see her blinders were officially off. But in true Supernatural fashion, a bit too late. She was already in a compromising position with Ketch, and kind of trapped by the time she had figured things out. She should have trusted Dean, as his hunch was most certainly right about the British Men of Letters (BML). And it seems that they are still making progress in their plans to track and kill all American hunters. It was great foreshadowing once again to have had the episode start with Ketch torturing a shapeshifter in the form of Mary. As we later saw the episode ended with the real Mary in the same position the shapeshifter had been in. But they have bigger plans, according to the sadistic woman we may remember from earlier in the season when she tortured Sam. Even if she lost the fight against Ketch, Mary really did hold her own. If he hadn’t used that taser, she would have won. The BML and their toys… a blessing and a curse for the Winchester’s so far.

Source: The CW

It was good Mary got a voicemail to Dean before her capture. That set off alarm bells for him, and sent him into rescue mode. And we all know that’s when Dean is at his best. I kind of feel bad for Ketch. Turning on Mary will bring out a whole other side of Dean. Or at least I am hoping so. And we can only hope their rescue mission won’t interfere with the whole Nephilim thing going on. After all, Cas and the Nephilim are in Heaven right now doing only the angels know what. And they may need a hand going up against the BML. So I am sure it will be an insane showdown. Or one can hope. There has been so much build up to this BML showdown and the birth of the Nephilim that I wouldn’t be too surprised to see both plots peak at the same time. They’re going to need all hands on deck with the Nephilim so let’s hope this BML business won’t set them too far off course.
