Supernatural - "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell" - Season 12 Episode 15

March 10, 2017

Maybe it’s my twisted sense of humor, but as this episode began and we see the Hellhounds reemerge, I can’t help but wonder; if Gwen didn’t spoil her surprise proposal, would her beau still be alive? I guess we will never know. But it’s nice to see at least she got away. And we know something serious is popping off, because Cas finds out someone is killing angels, again. As he’s investigating, I can’t help but chuckle at the manager of the cafe where one of the angels was killed. He’s convinced he’s “woke” and not one of the “sheeple.” Something I hear quite often being involved in the metaphysical and spiritual communities. The kicker: he thinks it’s aliens, reptilians to be exact. A conspiracy theory I have heard lots about over the years.

And how sneaky is this Hellhound?! It managed to get past both Sam and Dean when they came by to reassure Gwen there was nothing to fear. Smart little bugger. And patient too! He waited for guys to leave before trying to make his move. I’m just glad the guys came back in time to save her or they may have felt pretty guilty! As for the Hellhound’s mission, that seemed to be a mystery. They had no clue why he would come after someone who hadn’t sold their soul. When they guys call Crowley to get the scoop, his reaction is quite priceless, as always. He’s still mad about his son being sent back in time to die, but understands the gravity of the situation. It doesn’t look good on the King of Hell to lose control of one of his Hellhounds, Ramsey. So, of course, he orders the kennel guards to be taken out, painfully, in true Crowley style.

Source: The CW

I always love hearing the creation stories behind the monsters and such. And Ramsey was no different. She had been created by God, only to find out they were too vicious. He wanted them put down, but Lucifer saved Ramsey, who happened to be pregnant. And go figure, he is the only one she will listen to. When I heard that, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s quite amusing to me that Crowley has talked to much smack to Lucifer while he has had him locked up. Now, he has been had. His lackeys have pulled the wool over Crowley’s eyes. I honestly wasn’t expecting that! They were the ones to let Ramsey free as distraction to find out what Crowley was up to. And boy was their hunch right. He had Lucifer, and they had the key to free him. Why must Crowley always think he’s in control? He is always getting duped or screwed over, so you would think the man would learn, right? Same with his dumb lackeys. I mean who makes demands of Lucifer himself and thinks there won't be repercussions? It was almost satisfying seeing him smite the demon who made all the demands. And very funny seeing the other beg to be “devoured”. I really love the way he plays Lucifer. It’s almost endearing.

When Gwen had that heart to heart with emo Sam, it was quite a shocker. She had wanted to break up with her boyfriend, and he wanted to get married. How sad. Maybe it was less painful for him to be killed by a Hellhound than to be turned down anyways, eh? Speaking of painful, did anyone else’s heart sink when they saw the damage to the car? Dean is not going to be pleased, and I wouldn’t either. I love Impalas and that one is quite the beaut. Or at least it was until Ramsey had her way with it. And I am sure seeing the damage, Dean would have wanted to be the one to kill her.

Source: The CW

And can we talk about that ending though? Just when Lucifer thought he was back in control, a big bomb is dropped. Crowley is way ahead of him and already warded Lucifer’s vessel; every single molecule. How many times is being the son of a witch going to save his ass? I love this sneaky bastard. Sneakiness in mind, I am glad Sam told Dean about being in touch with the British Men of Letters. He didn’t keep it a secret as long as his mom did from both of them. And I love he has Mick’s name in his phone as Frodo. I don’t love, however, that my boy Cas is leaving and didn’t even tell the guys. I just hope it’s not a trick. After all, he’s still on a lot of angels’ bad sides. Here’s hoping next week we don’t find our favorite angel in a bad position!

The Path - "Return" - Season 2 Episode 8 Recap and Review

March 10, 2017

Source: Hulu

With the way things ended last week, I was almost nervous to begin this week’s episode. I am #teamEddie all day, and things aren’t looking too good for our hero. Being kidnapped by the group you are trying so desperately to get away from… no bueno. So I wasn’t surprised at all when the first time we hear Eddie speak in this episode he is begging to get Johnny, Chloe’s son, whom Kodiak and Richard left abandoned in the car sleeping. I can’t imagine this will bode well for his relationship with Chloe. It certainly didn’t leave a good impression on Johnny’s dad. But unfortunately, Kodiak and Richard dosed Eddie with Ayahuasca and he collapses, unresponsive. My heart dropped when that happened. As Kodiak tried to resuscitate him, he has an out of body experience. A disembodied voice calls him out, and he sees Steve, his mother, and brother.

But, of course, they can’t just run with that; they have to go back to what creepy Cal is up to. Unfortunately for him, his mom Brenda is dying and he is on a dummy mission trying to con money from Noa’s mom, leaving Sarah to be at his mother’s side. I wasn’t surprised at all to see Cal react the way he did. His relationship with his mother is very strained, and she tends to be a trigger for him. The last time he saw her he got wasted. He didn’t even have to be in her presence to be triggered this time. After getting the phone call from Sarah, he joins Noa’s mom and her client Luna on their cocaine binge. And the idea of creepy Cal being fueled by a drug notorious for how aggressive it can make people… scary stuff. We’ve already seen how nuts he is sober and drunk, so I can’t imagine how cocaine will make him.

When Brenda starts to reveal her truth of how Cal was treated by Steve, I was shocked. Sarah was too judging by her reaction. I mean shoot, sexual abuse is very common with cult leaders, so when his mom suggests that happened, it shouldn’t have been too shocking.  I was hoping Sarah would go back to retrieve the full truth.

But, that’d have to wait for later I guess. That’s the one thing about this show. They’re really great at pulling you in, then, BAM, switching to another sub plot. Every time I want to hear more about one, they switch to the next. We see Eddie coming come back to life just as he’s telling his brother Johnny about how he tried so hard to save Steve. Then, back to Cal, then back to Sarah. It’s like a game of tennis. Back and forth, back and forth. But it’s so good! I can’t stop getting sucked into to all these plots!

Source: Hulu

As we continue to see Hawk grow into his own, I get excited. I can’t wait to see him finally join forces with his dad, at least that’s what I am hoping. It’s nice seeing him stand up to his mom. Just as it was awesome seeing Eddie stand up to Kodiak and Richard, shattering their truth.

It’s easy to see Cal projected a lot of his issues onto Luna and Noa’s mom. Losing his mother made him open up and not be selfish for once. He helped Luna get away from a situation he found toxic for her. And when he calls out Noa’s mom, they end up hooking up. It’s almost like they see that each of them are narcissists and feed off of each other.

Source: Hulu

And I about cheered when Richard FINALLY sees Eddie is to be the new guardian of the light!!! It’s about f’n time somebody does! I’m glad it’s Richard too. He has a lot of experience in the group and a lot of pull too. So hopefully with him on Eddie’s side now things will start stacking up against Cal. I seriously can’t wait to see Eddie come into his own as the REAL guardian of the light, something I don’t even think Steve really was. He was a prophet, yes, but I don’t think he really carried the light as he said. I mean, he did get cancer and die, and is just a man, as Eddie stated. And just like Eddie’s brother told him in the garden, there is a reason he was struck by lightning and lived. He is about to see why his life was spared; there is some big things he still needs to do. And I know I am beyond excited to see it unfold!

Supernatural - "The Raid" - Season 12 Episode 14 Review

March 4, 2017

Source: The CW

The guys are still understandably angry with their mom, Mary. I mean shoot, it’s her fault Wally died and Cas got injured. I can’t even imagine had Castiel died what that would have meant for their relationship. I’m just glad we don’t have to find out! But after all that, she’s still working with the British Men of Letters. One thing I really want to know, does Jared Padalecki practice his sad faces in the mirror or something? He is always making the best faces when he’s upset in the show, and their conversation with Mary was no different. Sam continues to be Dean’s voice of reason in this episode, and Dean isn’t having it. Dean’s pain runs so deep with Mary he is not sure who to trust it seems. So it wasn’t too surprising to see Sam meet up with Mary behind Dean’s back. She still thinks she is doing the right thing, that one day the world will be without monsters, thanks to the British Men of Letters.

Source: The CW

I really don’t think she even realizes what she’s getting into with these creeps. I’m pretty sure they don’t even realize they're in over their heads, and this episode will prove it. I just wish they would have kept my boy Dean out of it. Because if things go sour with their big Vampire plan, at least he would have been free of harm. But nooo, the BML had to go to the bunker and get him so they could try to recruit him as well. Their plan sounds good; they track all the Vampires down like terrorists until they get lead to the alpha. Much how the military or police may run surveillance. The plan sounds good, but the Alpha is far smarter than they realize, so I don’t believe it will go down the way they think it will. And it didn’t take long to prove my hunch was correct, and the hunted became the hunters. The vampires were outside the BML compound, and Mary and Sam had no idea where Dean was. At least the two bad asses were together outside the compound and knew what’s going down.  The brains of the BML are trapped inside their so called fortress like sitting ducks when the Alpha makes his way in. They didn’t finish the spell for the Colt45 bullets yet, or so they make it seem. At that point Dean still has no idea Sam is even with them, so I couldn’t imagine what his reaction would be. And I can’t imagine he will react well to knowing his mom stole the Colt for the BML either.

Source: The CW

The big surprise is the hunter working for BML was working for the Alpha Vampire the whole time. That explained how they got the intel on where their bunker was. Lucky for them the Alpha liked to talk as much as he did right? I mean how else would they have pulled off getting the bullet in the gun to be able to kill him. It’s kind of sad to see him die, monster or not. He was a pretty classy fella, even if he did kill a few folks. I had a feeling Dean and his British counterpart will be sad to have missed out on that action. As I knew he would be, Dean was annoyed Sam left out the fact he was going to see their mom in his note. But he quickly got over it. Ketch as all too excited he got to take the traitor of a hunter to deal with, in his own way. But he didn’t hide his displeasure with Mick in the least bit. It’s very clear that Ketch sees a kinship with Dean, so he wants to play on the same side as him. And as he says, he feels he was very close to getting Dean to agree to work with the BLM. But, I think having his brother Sam agree to work with them behind his back will actually make him more apt not to want to do it.

Source: The CW

What do you guys think about all this sneaking around behind each other’s back business that has been going on? I for one think that their relationships with really be tested soon. They already had it out with each other for Mary lying about her involvement with the BML. Now Sam is going to be doing the same? Not to mention, he now knows his mom also lied about stealing the Colt. This is going to be a big deal to Dean. How could it not be? She lied more than once to him, and he forgave her for her transgressions as far as he knows. So when he finds out there is more, it’s really going to be bad. I really hope this doesn’t cause Dean to go off on his own right before this Cosmic threat pops off. I mean, it’s happened before, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
