The Path - "Mercy" - Season 2 Finale - Recap and Review

April 15, 2017

Source: Hulu

To be honest, I was expecting more from this episode seeing that it was the finale. Considering all the action packed into last week’s episode, I was shocked to see this episode wasn’t as crazy. Having left off with the suicide of Richard, I really expected things to get really grimy this episode between Cal and Eddie. But it seems, this episode was setting up for the season three premiere instead. We start this episode with Eddie, Sarah, and Summer, who were hiding away in Canada. I was surprised to see Eddie still being the bigger person, standing by her side and helping her even after telling Gaines he wouldn’t. I wasn’t however surprised to see Gaines track them down; after all, he is an FBI agent. Eddie always one step ahead, was able to warn Sarah and Summer so that Gaines didn’t see them. But it didn’t help them when their new Canadian neighbor felt suspicious of Sarah knowing she had to be hiding from something. And Sarah being the coward she is, gave up. She chose to run and head back to the states and take her punishment. She wanted things to be over.

Eddie and Cal had already spoke to Ms. Dukan, and worked to have her charges dropped. So when she reached the border, convinced she would be taken in and then wasn’t, you could see the confusion on her face. And boy did this annoy me. This broad gets away with everything! Every time she makes a dumb choice and you are convinced she will get punished something happens and she gets off. And then, when she returned to the movement and Felicia told her she should lead, wow. That was too much for me. How can they still adore this woman? She freaking hooked up with Creepy Cal and put the whole movement at risk. And if they knew she helped hide Silas’ body, they definitely wouldn’t have her back.

I was just grateful it seems like Hawk is finally coming to his senses. He showed up to talk to Eddie and begged him to make him believe in him. That’s a huge change from last week when he called him Eddie and tried to disown him. I am just so so happy Hawk finally knows what a creep Cal is! We can thank Mary for that. She told him Cal was her baby’s dad, and that was the final nudge he needed to see him for who he is.

Agent Gaines seems to still believe in Eddie. And it seems like he knows the movement isn’t all bad. It was nice to see him track down the doctor he blamed for being an FBI agent and helped Eddie bring her in from the streets. He also brought Eddie back to the states where his apartment was filled with people from the movement who believed in Eddie as the true leader of the movement. Eddie still seemed to be struggling with the idea of leading, but I can see him not wanting to disappoint them, so he continued to preach to them from his apartment, and help them see how they can truly impact those who need them. And once again, the people who make this show possible did a great job at foreshadowing. We see Eddie preaching to his ever growing congregation while Cal was preaching to an empty room.

As annoyed as I may be that this episode didn’t have too much action, I was so happy with the ending. Seeing Eddie return to the movement with his congregation was awesome. I have been #TeamEddie since episode one, so it was awesome seeing him finally step into the role I have been waiting for. I was even more excited to see Hawk be the one to open the gate for them. He also has had Eddie’s back, so it was nice to see him do so publicly. With the deniers no longer being shunned, things are going to be so intense next season. There will be more and more people there in support of the new direction the movement is headed in and I can’t wait to see it all go down. And hopefully this next season we will finally see Cal pay for all the messed up things he has done. It is only a matter of time before the blinders come off and everyone sees what Eddie sees in him. And I will be cheering in my seat!

Supernatural - "The British Invasion" - Season 12 Episode 17 Recap and Review

April 8, 2017

Source: The CW

I will admit, this episode makes up for last week, for sure. We are back to one of the main storylines, the nephilim. And now Mick is aware of it too. And as we see, Dean was right to question the British Men of Letters (BMOL). They are too attached to their code; much of which is outdated or cruel. They may have fancy tools, but they are cold as ice. We learned a lot about Mick’s background in this episode too. He was an orphan on the street when the BMOL recruited him so it’s not surprising to see him feel he owes them. But the more time he spends with Sam and Dean, the more he sees their code is flawed. And seeing that when he was a student at the “Hogwarts for hunters” he was forced to kill his best friend, I can’t say I wouldn’t have seen the flaws sooner.

We see our little demon baby progressing well, his mother still unaware she won’t be around to see him grow. And Dagon is still on watch over mother and child. And thanks to telepathy, still in communication with Lucifer, unbeknownst to Crowley. Crowley somehow still believes he is in control too, but with the nephilim still in play, that’s impossible. I am starting to wonder if Crowley will ever realize he can’t win with Lucifer, even if he may appear to be winning. Lucifer’s submission would be my first hint that something bad was in the works. Lucifer is the last one to submit, as we see when he sneaks his own demand for allegiance into his meeting with Crowley’s demons.

An old friend Eileen also makes an appearance this episode. She helps the guys track down Dagon so they are able to get Kelly. She was able to track down the demon covering Dagon’s tracks after a doctor’s appointment, but unfortunately for him, she killed him after getting Kelly’s number. Sam was able to trick Kelly with a very poor British accent, so Dean could intercept her. Mick showed up to the meeting place where Dean brought Kelly, with a new friend, an annoying guy who won’t stop talking about being top of his class. As soon as he starts bragging a third time about being the head of his class, I knew something had to happen to him and I was right. Dagon came for Kelly, and as Eileen went to shoot her, she vanished, leaving the annoying graduate in the line of the bullet. Mick, having been raised to kill those who kill BMOL, attempted to take out Eileen, only to realize it was not the way. And in the very next scene, Kelly finds out from Dagon that she won’t survive the birth of Lucifer’s child.

We see Dr. Hess, the evil woman who runs the school Mick and Mr. Ketch attended. And we can see where Mr. Ketch learned to be so ruthless! I can’t believe Mary is feeling this guy. I mean they have been on the road together killing stuff, bonding… I suppose. But to sleep with the guy? Wow. When she learns what he agreed to do, I can’t imagine it will go over well. And what he said after they hooked up, seems like foreshadowing. He said he never saw their hook up coming, instead when he met her he thought, “I’ll end up shooting this one”. And considering the cold blooded way he took Mick out, and the fact he agreed to take out the rest of the American hunters, it could happen.

Source: The CW

Can we talk about poor Mick for a second? Seeing him taken out the way he was, wow. It shocked me, I can’t lie. And Mr. Ketch’s utter satisfaction and interest in seeing his dead body, well, that didn’t shock me much. It’s just sad to me that when Mick finally got the courage to stand up for himself he was taken out. I’m just hoping that Mr. Ketch doesn’t use his rejection from Mary as fuel to continue to take out the hunters, Winchester’s included. But that he chooses instead to join forces with them. Because, even if he denies it, he likes Mary and was hoping for more. But at least the guys have the colt back… that’s a positive. And here’s hoping they hear from Cas soon, I really miss him!

The Path - "Spiritus Mundi" - Season 2 Episode 12 Recap and Review

April 7, 2017

Holy bananas. If I was a fan of popcorn this would be the episode to have it! Everything is being exposed, and it is getting so intense! We see Agent Gaines and Eddie in the start of the episode talking. And it seems like Gaines’ feelings of being torn between two worlds carries through the rest of the episode as well. We see each character going through similar transitions. Gaines is desperate not to make the wrong move and asks Eddie to help him. I must admit, Eddie responds like a boss, as always. He pretty much told Gaines that he’s not getting involved in his mess, or Sarah’s. And can you blame him? He has enough going on. I think it was pretty awesome of Gaines to leave the water testing results for Sarah to find though. He is at least doing the right thing by the people of Clarksville.

Source: Hulu

Seeing Sarah question everything is wonderful to me. I started this show kind of liking her, and as it progresses, I can’t stand her. So watching all her bad choices blow up in her face… priceless! I absolutely loved seeing Eddie call her out when he caught her following him. However, seeing her get run off the road after, it left me concerned. I knew Eddie would get the blame, especially from Creepy Cal. And I was right. And of course he told Hawk he thought Eddie was to blame, further pushing him away from his dad and causing Eddie to give up.

Source: Hulu

I still can’t understand how the heck Hawk still thinks Eddie is the one not to be trusted and he believes everything Cal throws at him. Eddie tried to warn Hawk he was being manipulated and it only made things worse. I seriously can’t wait for Hawk to see the truth. I know I say that in nearly all my articles, but it’s so true. The kid freaking levitated, that has to mean something right? He has to be connected to the higher source in some way, so how is he so blinded? He really is Sarah’s kid.

Source: Hulu

The most upsetting part of the episode for me was watching Richard slowly crumble before legit going out in a blaze of glory. The man dedicated his life to the movement, and jerky Sarah kicked him out for not believing her truth? Cold! And he still saved her at the end! That speaks volumes for his beliefs in love and light. I was hurting for him watching him try to find a place outside the movement. But Eddie’s revelation to him about how Sarah really used his unburdening tapes, that was his push over the edge. I was so happy to see him come back to the compound to call out Cal. But, my excitement slowly shifted to anxiousness when I realized he didn’t plan to leave alive. I find it heroic and sad what he did. He made sure everyone knows Cal is a fraud, and he got rid of all the unburdening tapes to be sure they couldn’t ever be used for blackmail again.

Source: Hulu

Watching Cal be exposed to Sarah for who he really is made up for the sad bits in the episode. As you all can tell, he is my least favorite character, ever. He is evil, slimy, and gross. We finally see Mary give birth, in the woods, like an idiot. All because she was too attached to Cal to leave with Sean. And as we knew was possible, the baby appears to be Cal’s. Not only does he look like him, the way he responded told Sarah everything she should have already known. She seemed to really lose it after this revelation. She confronted Cal and then went into a teepee for some solitude and reflection. I think part of her knows Richard and Felicia are right; Eddie is the guardian of the light. And Eddie knows it too, as he could feel what was going down without being at the compound. So I think it’s safe to say, Richard’s promise of Eddie’s return to build the garden is closer than we may think! I can’t wait to find out.
