Supernatural - "Twigs & Twine & Tasha Banes" - Season 12 Episode 20 Review

May 9, 2017

Apparently the show runners for Supernatural are ruthless. Not only do we get reintroduced to the easy-to-love Witch Twins, but their world gets torn apart just as fast. Why must we always see characters either die or get turned to darkness? I was hoping these two would be spared such a fate, but this episode proved that wrong. It was sad to see Max and Alicia crumble. They could have been great assets in the fight against the upcoming cosmic doom we are waiting for. And perhaps, against all odds, they may still be? I guess we will have to wait on that to see.

You really can’t blame Max though; losing your mother and sister like that could make anyone snap. And the magic in the creepy woman’s ring that she offered, that was responsible for their deaths, was some strong stuff. I can only imagine being a strong witch, warlock, or whatever your preferred term, that you would have felt pulled to it. I just can’t believe Dean and Sam just left such a crazy object behind. A ring that enslaves your soul and gives you power wouldn’t be something I would want casually lying about. I can only wonder how long it will take for them to catch on to that mistake.

As far as things go with Mary. I was happy to see her blinders were officially off. But in true Supernatural fashion, a bit too late. She was already in a compromising position with Ketch, and kind of trapped by the time she had figured things out. She should have trusted Dean, as his hunch was most certainly right about the British Men of Letters (BML). And it seems that they are still making progress in their plans to track and kill all American hunters. It was great foreshadowing once again to have had the episode start with Ketch torturing a shapeshifter in the form of Mary. As we later saw the episode ended with the real Mary in the same position the shapeshifter had been in. But they have bigger plans, according to the sadistic woman we may remember from earlier in the season when she tortured Sam. Even if she lost the fight against Ketch, Mary really did hold her own. If he hadn’t used that taser, she would have won. The BML and their toys… a blessing and a curse for the Winchester’s so far.

Source: The CW

It was good Mary got a voicemail to Dean before her capture. That set off alarm bells for him, and sent him into rescue mode. And we all know that’s when Dean is at his best. I kind of feel bad for Ketch. Turning on Mary will bring out a whole other side of Dean. Or at least I am hoping so. And we can only hope their rescue mission won’t interfere with the whole Nephilim thing going on. After all, Cas and the Nephilim are in Heaven right now doing only the angels know what. And they may need a hand going up against the BML. So I am sure it will be an insane showdown. Or one can hope. There has been so much build up to this BML showdown and the birth of the Nephilim that I wouldn’t be too surprised to see both plots peak at the same time. They’re going to need all hands on deck with the Nephilim so let’s hope this BML business won’t set them too far off course.

Supernatural - "The Future" - Season 12 Episode 19 Recap and Review

April 30, 2017

I can’t lie, even after 12 seasons this show still keeps me interested. And I was exceptionally excited that we saw Castiel return unharmed in this episode. But I can’t really say that the episode ended that way. We see Kelly at the start of the episode decide to end the potential threat of the ever-growing nephilim in her stomach. But to my surprise, and perhaps yours, the baby brought her back from death after her attempted suicide. Yikes. I have a feeling this wasn’t an act done out of the love of his mother. As Dagon said, he was protecting himself, and Kelly is dumb to believe otherwise.

Source: The CW

We can see that not only is this baby nephilim already stronger than we could have imagined, he seems to be just as cunning and manipulative as his father, Lucifer. The way he worked Castiel in this episode is very disheartening. Being #TeamCastiel all day, I am hoping he will not become a mindless drone at the will of this evil being. Speaking of how deep my love goes for this very troubled angel Castiel, I definitely succumbed to my inner fangirl and stole his awesome voicemail. Nerdy or not, it was too good not to. I mean, it’s classic Castiel. Also, classic Castiel: watching his seemingly good intentions backfire. He knows he can’t fail anymore, and sadly, I am thinking he is well on his way to doing just that.

Source: The CW

The nephilim has convinced Kelly he is good and needs to get to Heaven, at any cost. Yikes. Maybe having this crazy devilish baby unleash his wrath in Heaven is that cosmic threat we have been waiting all season for. And how messed up would it be that my darling Castiel is the one to get him exactly where he needs to be to make that happen. He did the right thing in his mind by lying as saying he didn’t know Kelly’s location so he and his angel buddies could go get her to bring her back to Heaven to be, um… neutralized. But we see how well that worked out, as it ended in the death of a few angels.

Source: The CW

And fearing the wrath of Lucifer, Dagon made sure to track them down on their way back to Heaven. As did Dean and Sam. And sadly for our favorite brothers, this showdown ended with the destruction of their beloved Colt. My heart sank a little as I watched Dagon so effortlessly destroy it. Where else are they going to find such a weapon? I am sure that will add yet another thing to the list of reasons the British Men of Letters want them dead. Speaking of; we didn’t really see any progress in that storyline in this episode. But judging by the previews for next week, we will get back to it then.

Source: The CW

The idea that Castiel has been handpicked by the nephilim himself to “protect him” is really strange to me. And seeing him be not only possessed by him but also healed in order to defeat Dagon is a testament to how strong this child is going to be. I am really hoping I am wrong about him and that he will use his power for good as Kelly wants to believe, but in the world of Supernatural I can’t see that happening. And I wonder how his dad is going to react to his child’s life choice thus far. After all, he made sure one of Lucifer’s dedicated soldiers met her demise, so will he be proud or pissed?  I am however thankful to see Castiel finally back at his full power, even if it was at the help of this evil little fetus.

Source: The CW

Things are definitely picking up again, and I have a feeling it may slow down again for another episode or so to give us more time for this big buildup and possible showdown. I am going to continue to try to be as optimistic as possible about this baby’s intentions. I can only hope that killing Joshua isn’t a taste of what he plans to do once he gets to Heaven. I mean his dad Lucifer can feel him, so does he have the same connection to his dad? Do you think he can receive orders from his dear old dad once born, or even now? I really can’t wait to see how this all plays out. And I wonder if we will see the return of God and his sister The Darkness once things really pop off. Here is hoping we do, because we are going to need all the power players in this battle.

The Path - "Mercy" - Season 2 Finale - Recap and Review

April 15, 2017

Source: Hulu

To be honest, I was expecting more from this episode seeing that it was the finale. Considering all the action packed into last week’s episode, I was shocked to see this episode wasn’t as crazy. Having left off with the suicide of Richard, I really expected things to get really grimy this episode between Cal and Eddie. But it seems, this episode was setting up for the season three premiere instead. We start this episode with Eddie, Sarah, and Summer, who were hiding away in Canada. I was surprised to see Eddie still being the bigger person, standing by her side and helping her even after telling Gaines he wouldn’t. I wasn’t however surprised to see Gaines track them down; after all, he is an FBI agent. Eddie always one step ahead, was able to warn Sarah and Summer so that Gaines didn’t see them. But it didn’t help them when their new Canadian neighbor felt suspicious of Sarah knowing she had to be hiding from something. And Sarah being the coward she is, gave up. She chose to run and head back to the states and take her punishment. She wanted things to be over.

Source: Hulu

Eddie and Cal had already spoke to Ms. Dukan, and worked to have her charges dropped. So when she reached the border, convinced she would be taken in and then wasn’t, you could see the confusion on her face. And boy did this annoy me. This broad gets away with everything! Every time she makes a dumb choice and you are convinced she will get punished something happens and she gets off. And then, when she returned to the movement and Felicia told her she should lead, wow. That was too much for me. How can they still adore this woman? She freaking hooked up with Creepy Cal and put the whole movement at risk. And if they knew she helped hide Silas’ body, they definitely wouldn’t have her back.

Source: Hulu

I was just grateful it seems like Hawk is finally coming to his senses. He showed up to talk to Eddie and begged him to make him believe in him. That’s a huge change from last week when he called him Eddie and tried to disown him. I am just so so happy Hawk finally knows what a creep Cal is! We can thank Mary for that. She told him Cal was her baby’s dad, and that was the final nudge he needed to see him for who he is.

Source: Hulu

Agent Gaines seems to still believe in Eddie. And it seems like he knows the movement isn’t all bad. It was nice to see him track down the doctor he blamed for being an FBI agent and helped Eddie bring her in from the streets. He also brought Eddie back to the states where his apartment was filled with people from the movement who believed in Eddie as the true leader of the movement. Eddie still seemed to be struggling with the idea of leading, but I can see him not wanting to disappoint them, so he continued to preach to them from his apartment, and help them see how they can truly impact those who need them. And once again, the people who make this show possible did a great job at foreshadowing. We see Eddie preaching to his ever growing congregation while Cal was preaching to an empty room.

Source: Hulu

As annoyed as I may be that this episode didn’t have too much action, I was so happy with the ending. Seeing Eddie return to the movement with his congregation was awesome. I have been #TeamEddie since episode one, so it was awesome seeing him finally step into the role I have been waiting for. I was even more excited to see Hawk be the one to open the gate for them. He also has had Eddie’s back, so it was nice to see him do so publicly. With the deniers no longer being shunned, things are going to be so intense next season. There will be more and more people there in support of the new direction the movement is headed in and I can’t wait to see it all go down. And hopefully this next season we will finally see Cal pay for all the messed up things he has done. It is only a matter of time before the blinders come off and everyone sees what Eddie sees in him. And I will be cheering in my seat!
