I have to admit, seeing how much Hawk has changed his perspective is very reassuring for “the path” he is headed down, no pun intended. He now understands that sitting around and trying to pray about things doesn’t get things done. And that if he wants change, he must go out and make it happen and be willing to sacrifice to do so, and to him that involves moving. Unfortunately for his mother, Sarah, this revelation couldn’t come at a worse time. She is grasping at straws trying to hold it together. She has had so many changes to her reality, having learned of the darker side of things. So I wasn’t surprised to see her trying to ease and cleanse her mind the only way she knew how, with help from a Shamanistic like ceremony. The vision she had of Eddie’s lightning scar glowing only leaves me with more questions. I can’t help but wonder how such a devout Meyerist such as Sarah hasn’t put the pieces together yet.
Speaking of Eddie, how does he not feel guilty leading on Chloe? If he is going to see his wife behind the movement’s back, the least he can do is not be with Chloe too. The poor girl put him in charge of her happiness, that’s the number one relationship no no! I wouldn’t be surprised if she really loses it when she finds out. Cal put it together, and he doesn’t seem too pleased. I can’t imagine him confronting this in a positive way at all. So to see him dig his claws into Hawk during his very vulnerable, “awakening” makes me sick. This poor kid has no idea of the evil he is getting involved with having Cal guide him. And the movement as a whole has no idea what they’re getting into with the badges either. I about died when I saw Richard lock Kodiak up in the storage room too! Kodiak is the only one who actually has things figured out, and now he can’t do a damn thing about it. Richard just made himself even more vulnerable by doing that as well! I mean we know how small he is, and he already tipped Cal off he’s looking into him in some way. This is not going to play out well.
I can’t believe Eddie only told Sarah part of the story about Peru! At this point he should know how dumb his wife can be. And she most definitely will jump to the conclusion that Eddie killed Steve, and if she doesn’t, Richard will. This is going to be so bad! I can’t handle how dumb she can be sometimes, honestly. It’s one of the most annoying things in the show. She is constantly making bad, rash decisions that blow up in her face. What’s next? Is she going to really end up putting Eddie on the chopping block? Let’s hope not! And Cal is as bold as always. He makes a couple declarations to the congregation at their gathering commending Russell and Hawk while announcing their ascension. We all know that he’s not doing it for them, it’s always for him. He makes sure to threaten Mary not to expose the truth about the baby to Sarah and proceeds to also threaten Sarah. This guy. I can’t with him, I am looking forward to his downfall more than anything.
The best thing I saw in this episode had to be Agent Gaines slipping a sample of the contaminated water to his people in the FBI for testing. After the cow incident in the last episode, there is no way they can let that go on to that poor town. Even Gaines knows that the movement isn’t all bad. It’s good to see him fighting for the people the movement failed to help. I have to say, the saddest thing in this episode, aside from Kodiak being locked away, was Hawk handing Noa scissors to cut his hair. He is really going all out when it comes to him changing, huh? I think shedding his hair is almost like shedding all the parts of himself he doesn’t like. And I don’t think it hurts that it also means his mom can’t come up and play with it anymore like he’s a child. We all know what being a teenager is like; that kind of stuff was not cool. Especially now that he is seeing himself in a whole new light. And just as I was wrapping my mind around Hawk’s new do, Sarah does just what I thought she would. She spilled the beans to Richard about Eddie. THIS IS SO BAD. They already think he is a denier and don’t respect him, who is to say they’ll believe anything he says? And once again, creepy Cal will slip past the radar. I don’t even know if I can wait to see how this plays out. I know I say this all the time, but it’s really going to get intense.
