Supernatural - "Unhuman Nature" - Season 14 Episode 7 Review

By Kaylynn Kasandra

It seems old habits die hard when you have been possessed by Lucifer himself for so long. We see Nick still struggling to come to terms with the death of his family. However, in true Lucifer style, he doesn’t mope around and feel sorry for himself. Instead, he turns to revenge. I can’t lie, I kinda miss Lucifer and all his crazy antics, so seeing Nick filling that void has been quite nice. Can you really blame him for his murderous rampage? I can’t. The man has a serious case of PTSD. How could he not? It should be interesting to see how this progresses now that he has killed two of the people he blames for the death of his family. He is also now armed with the name of a demon that took part in his family’s demise, so it should be getting pretty intense.

Watching Nick beg for Lucifer to come back was quite intense. Can you imagine being in such a state where that seems to be your only option? I sure can’t. But, I can see why it would be for him. He lost everything he loved and Lucifer gave him the escape he needed to keep from feeling that. I’m looking forward to seeing who exactly responded to his desperate pleas. I hope it’s Lucifer, because as you may remember, I haven’t been convinced he is gone forever.

We were introduced to Serge in this episode as well, a healer that Ketch had suggested may be the only one to help Jack in his time of need. I am not too sure I trust Serge, but I do like him regardless. I’m sure we will see in future episodes which side Serge is really on. But given the reaction Jack had to the cure Serge suggested, I can say I am not too sure he is on the same side as Sam and Dean.

I was very happy to see my favorite witch came back in this episode. I always love when Rowena makes an appearance. But in true Rowena fashion, she was quite hesitant to help Jack considering who his father is. But with her history with Lucifer I can’t say I blame her. And honestly, I think she was right, because I mentioned, I am not sure Serge is to be trusted. Who is to say the grace he had given them really was from Gabriel. What if it in fact was from Lucifer instead? It could very well had been an insurance policy Lucifer had set up just in case he were to be killed. I mean, it is Lucifer we are talking about and he is always 10 steps ahead of everyone.

I am quite looking forward to seeing how this all plays out this season. I know I shouldn’t be team Lucifer, but it is kind of hard not to like the guy. He has some of the best one liners in the show and brings most of the entertainment in terms of the plot. So here is hoping my hunch is right and we will once again see my favorite fallen angel make his return.
