We find our faithful followers at a meditation retreat of sorts as the episode starts. When we see Cal he is clearly still a hot mess. How people constantly ignore the warning signs with him will never cease to amaze me. He looks like a serial killer trying not to snap to me. Mary, of course wanting to show she embraced The Movement is the first to share with the rest of the followers during this meditation retreat. Will she also share about the affair she had with Cal and the possibility her child is his? Doubt it. But I’ll have to watch on to find out. She does talk about the pregnancy and fear she has associated to it, but not of being found out. She is scared of failing. With her background, I can’t say I wouldn’t be scared as well in her position. As the group is sending strength to the baby, the cops pull up to the gate outside the compound, and you can see Cal freaking out inside. Has he finally been figured out??
Agent Gaines and Mary are the only ones who seem to notice the cops and Cal’s reaction. As Cal is talking to the officers Sarah arrives back to the compound, clearly freaking out. She is the only one to know his secrets after all. She couldn’t hide her concern as she goes up to Cal to see what had been discussed. Little does she know her son and his new friend Noa are the reason for the visit, not her crazy friend Cal. Of course Cal tries to squeeze his way in when telling Sarah the news about Hawk and Noa’s indiscretion. He will use any opportunity to try to dig his claws into her, it’s so gross.
I was so happy to see Hawk going to visit his dad Eddie at the construction site he works at. If anyone understands him, it’s his dad. As I watch I am waiting, hoping he opens up to his dad about what happened to him during his retreat. Levitation doesn’t just happen to people on a regular basis, so he needs to tell someone and NOT CAL. When he tells his dad, I was so disappointed in Eddie’s reaction. For someone who has seen first-hand that magic exists, he sure is in denial. I fear that this is going to push Hawk further from his dad and closer to the creeps in the movement like Cal. If anyone can save these blind followers from themselves, I really believe it will be Hawk and Eddie. When Hawk says exactly what I feared, my heart drops. He refuses to see his dad now that he’s ascending the ladder knowing his father is a denier. I really hope this doesn’t last long. Hawk and Eddie are my two favorites!
After Hawk sees his father, Sarah takes him to the DeKaan’s. He has to apologize for throwing the rock through their window. I know he was the one who actually threw the rock, but I can’t help but wonder why Noa isn’t there as well. After all, she was with him. But, I digress. I will leave that question and continue to watch and see how this all unfolds. At first Ms.DeKaan comes across so sweet, but as with a lot of people with power, that was just to draw them in so she could get what she wants. She wants them to stop fighting for the water to be tested, and she claims it’s safe. She hands Sarah a stack of papers that is supposedly the results of the water being tested. But the look on Sarah’s face says she knows she is full of it.
When Agent Gaines sneaks away from The Movement to see his wife. It’s clear that once again, part of him is actually invested in the movement. As it seems the retreat really helped him work through some past issues. But his wife had some issues of her own to bring up, and I don’t blame her. With her leaving town to stay with her mom, I can only see Gaines falling into the movement even deeper.
Speaking of those falling in deeper, Hawk talking to Cal scares the heck out of me. Does it scare anyone else? And the fact Cal compares himself to Hawk, ew. It seriously gives me the creeps! Hawk as a pure spirit, and Cal is pure evil. No comparison there. And I was so freaking happy to see that Eddie saw this creep Cal moving in on his kid. He knows what’s up. Hopefully he can at least talk to Sarah and make sure Cal doesn’t get a chance to stick his Devil claw’s into Hawk. But, seeing as Sarah is a totally dummy when it comes to all things Cal, I doubt it. Eddie may be on his own fighting this evil jerk.
When Eddie jumped out of the car to confront Cal, I nearly cheered. I was on the edge of seat, there is so much at stake! And the way he checked Cal was perfect; state law overpowers anything the movement believes. But, when he told him he was going to murder Cal if he tried to take Hawk from him, I cringed. He all but put the idea into Cal’s head to kill Eddie. Great. At least two of the elders are catching on to Cal. FINALLY.
And I nearly dropped my drink when Mary told Sarah that the baby may not be her husband Sean’s. It’s about time that she told someone! But I can’t imagine she’ll tell Sarah it’s Cal’s. Maybe that will finally make Sarah not be blind to this creep? I guess we will see. But, Sarah kind of has her hands full at the moment. As does Eddie with Hawk wanting to go with him and Cal’s revenge lingering over him. His breakdown at the casino proved that. And holy moly, when Mary told Sean about the baby, I was shocked! I wasn’t sure she was going to. I can see this blowing up big time though. Just like I see this DeKaan water thing blowing up. And the ending, holy smokes! I bet that creep did something to one of Eddie’s drinks. I guess we will have to wait to see!
