Supernatural - "Family Feud" - Season 12 Episode 13 Review

February 24, 2017

Source: The CW

The show starts off with quite the bang! Seeing something pop through the bed to nearly disembowel a woman, intense! So it was clear this episode, once again, will continue to keep the two big story lines in wait. We won’t be finding any more answers in regards to whatever this cosmic threat was, nor will we be finding much more information about our nephilim. This episode takes on a case. While the guys are all over that their mom is still lying her face off to them. I still can’t believe she is working with the very people who tortured her kids. And the fact that she is risking her relationship with them is pretty shocking, but hunter first eh?

Crowley still has his own secret, he has Lucifer in his old vessel, in hell. I had a feeling Lucifer didn’t go where they had planned once he was evicted from the president’s vessel. It was revealed last week Crowley was using Lucifer as his very own hellish pet. I was quite curious to find out just how he pulled it off, so when we see the flashback, I was happy to have my answer. Again, being the son of a witch has come to benefit the King of Hell, the sneaky bastard. Little did Crowley know, this case would get quite personal for him, and his devilish plans would need to wait. Crowley wasn’t too pleased to be asked to assist in the case when he learned from Lucifer that his nephilim lived. Now they ask for help locating Crowley’s son? No bueno. It’s obvious this case involved a ghost, and Crowley’s son may know just who it was. Rowena is their only hope in locating him though since Crowley refuses.

We did get to see a little update on Kelly as mentioned before. She is still on the run, scared, yet protective of the satanic spawn she is carrying. I wasn’t too surprised to see that angels and demons had tracked her down. It was kind of humorous watching her interaction with Dagon. She was still terrified after she had saved her from two angels, hell bent on killing her and her spawn. And who could blame her? She was a normal woman but weeks ago, and now she has one of Lucifer’s soldiers talking to her about good vs evil. She does have a point though; we have seen time and time again, nothing is black and white in this show. Dagon’s intentions would fall into the grey area if I could guess. But finding out just what Dagon wants will have to wait, I guess.

The family reunion Sam and Dean put together between Gavin, (Crowley’s son) and Rowena, was almost sweet. She did seem quite happy to meet him, but it is Rowena, so who knows. But they guys were right about him being the key the mystery at the museum. His one true love Fiona, was indeed their ghost and she’s attached to the locket he got her. She smuggled herself aboard the ship and perished. How sad! She kept targeting caretakers and teachers of children, which made it easier for the guys to track down her next victims. Unfortunately, not before one of them was killed. This Fiona girl was not waiting; she went straight for the kill. Whatever teacher hurt her did some serious damage to make her that angry.

Source: The CW

I was surprised Gavin was so willing to sweet talk Fiona given her current state. It seems he is a lot nicer than his grandmother and father. Or, at the very least, more cooperative. The scene where Fiona materialized in front of Gavin and transitioned from decayed to how she looked in life was very well done. I always appreciate those types of scenes in this show. They’re short, but effective. But, I digress. When we learn how she became so angry, I understood. She had some pretty unthinkable things happen to her at the hands of the deck crew. I would be angry and hostile too if a teacher I had trusted told me after those things occurred that I deserved it. That was hard to hear, fiction or not. Gavin felt the same; it was written on his face.

Source: The CW

To see Gavin willing to sacrifice his life to stop Fiona from killing was surprising. He really is the opposite of his grandmother and father. To mess with the flow with time would be pretty tricky, so one would think. And of course Crowley was not about that life. He didn’t want his son banished to the past, to his death essentially. And who could blame him? I sure didn’t, I can’t imagine any parent being okay with sending their child off to their demise. I kind of feel bad for Crowley in this episode; it’s hard not to. You see him struggle to prevent his son from leaving, and failing. And for once, we see real emotion in his eyes. Sad stuff. When Rowena revealed her true reason for sending her grandson away, it made me feel for him more. What a cold woman his mother is. Sacrificing her own kin because of the pain she felt from losing someone at the hands of Crowley. These two really have no boundaries for how low they will go with one another.

Source: The CW

At the end of this episode Mary FINALLY spills the beans to the guys about working with the British Men of Letters. Dean, of course asked the question I predicted he would, “where does this leave us?” A pretty valid question considering their distrust for them, and their checkered past. Mary is pretty naive to think this won’t change things. I know I couldn’t trust her after going behind their backs like that. Especially with those creeps. I can’t even imagine what kind of case she plead to them. Hopefully we find out next week, but as of right now, I don’t think it’s a good idea working with them.

The Path - "For Our Safety" - Season 2 Episode 6 Recap and Review

February 23, 2017

Source: Hulu

I have to admit, seeing how much Hawk has changed his perspective is very reassuring for “the path” he is headed down, no pun intended. He now understands that sitting around and trying to pray about things doesn’t get things done. And that if he wants change, he must go out and make it happen and be willing to sacrifice to do so, and to him that involves moving. Unfortunately for his mother, Sarah, this revelation couldn’t come at a worse time. She is grasping at straws trying to hold it together. She has had so many changes to her reality, having learned of the darker side of things. So I wasn’t surprised to see her trying to ease and cleanse her mind the only way she knew how, with help from a Shamanistic like ceremony. The vision she had of Eddie’s lightning scar glowing only leaves me with more questions. I can’t help but wonder how such a devout Meyerist such as Sarah hasn’t put the pieces together yet.

Source: Hulu

Speaking of Eddie, how does he not feel guilty leading on Chloe? If he is going to see his wife behind the movement’s back, the least he can do is not be with Chloe too. The poor girl put him in charge of her happiness, that’s the number one relationship no no! I wouldn’t be surprised if she really loses it when she finds out. Cal put it together, and he doesn’t seem too pleased. I can’t imagine him confronting this in a positive way at all. So to see him dig his claws into Hawk during his very vulnerable, “awakening” makes me sick. This poor kid has no idea of the evil he is getting involved with having Cal guide him. And the movement as a whole has no idea what they’re getting into with the badges either. I about died when I saw Richard lock Kodiak up in the storage room too! Kodiak is the only one who actually has things figured out, and now he can’t do a damn thing about it. Richard just made himself even more vulnerable by doing that as well! I mean we know how small he is, and he already tipped Cal off he’s looking into him in some way. This is not going to play out well.

Source: Hulu

I can’t believe Eddie only told Sarah part of the story about Peru! At this point he should know how dumb his wife can be. And she most definitely will jump to the conclusion that Eddie killed Steve, and if she doesn’t, Richard will. This is going to be so bad! I can’t handle how dumb she can be sometimes, honestly. It’s one of the most annoying things in the show. She is constantly making bad, rash decisions that blow up in her face. What’s next? Is she going to really end up putting Eddie on the chopping block? Let’s hope not! And Cal is as bold as always. He makes a couple declarations to the congregation at their gathering commending Russell and Hawk while announcing their ascension. We all know that he’s not doing it for them, it’s always for him. He makes sure to threaten Mary not to expose the truth about the baby to Sarah and proceeds to also threaten Sarah. This guy. I can’t with him, I am looking forward to his downfall more than anything.

Source: Hulu

The best thing I saw in this episode had to be Agent Gaines slipping a sample of the contaminated water to his people in the FBI for testing. After the cow incident in the last episode, there is no way they can let that go on to that poor town. Even Gaines knows that the movement isn’t all bad. It’s good to see him fighting for the people the movement failed to help. I have to say, the saddest thing in this episode, aside from Kodiak being locked away, was Hawk handing Noa scissors to cut his hair. He is really going all out when it comes to him changing, huh? I think shedding his hair is almost like shedding all the parts of himself he doesn’t like. And I don’t think it hurts that it also means his mom can’t come up and play with it anymore like he’s a child. We all know what being a teenager is like; that kind of stuff was not cool. Especially now that he is seeing himself in a whole new light. And just as I was wrapping my mind around Hawk’s new do, Sarah does just what I thought she would. She spilled the beans to Richard about Eddie. THIS IS SO BAD. They already think he is a denier and don’t respect him, who is to say they’ll believe anything he says? And once again, creepy Cal will slip past the radar. I don’t even know if I can wait to see how this plays out. I know I say this all the time, but it’s really going to get intense.

Supernatural - "Stuck in the Middle (With You)" - Season 12 Episode 12 Review

February 18, 2017

It was pretty clear from the start of the episode they were on a case. It was just sad to see their hunter friend Wally who was along side them didn’t survive. After 12 seasons, we have seen a lot of hunters die, and a lot of ego-driven demons. And, I must admit, it still always gets me when Cas gets hurt. I was glad to see they were going to do the reverse order type set up for this episode. Showing us the chaos of the case before showing us what lead them there. I quite enjoy this set up as it switches things up a bit.

Source: The CW

I was taken aback seeing that the traditional methods of stopping a demon in its tracks didn’t work on this night fishing demon. And was sad to see that he went straight after Cas when he saw him, though it really wasn’t surprising. When we see that this isn’t just any demon, but the yellow eyed demon, I was on the edge of my seat. We all know how much these guys can’t stand him. Materializing a spear out of nowhere just to stab Cas, this yellow eyed demon has some serious issues with angels. It definitely wasn’t just any spear either, something tells me it’s quite like an angel sword, or has some kind of spell on it. I can’t stand seeing Cas bleeding out unable to heal himself.

Source: The CW

And can we talk about sneaky, sneaky Mary? They wouldn’t even had been at the house with the yellow eyed demon if it wasn’t for her. And now we see it was because there was something there she needed. She is working for the British Men of Letter’s, no doubt. I can’t even imagine how the guys will react when they find this out. Especially since this was such a messy situation with already losing Wally, and Cas down. We know they’re really in for it when Crowley shows up. He is the most self-preserving man in the show, so if he wants them to know they’re in for it, it’s really bad news bears!

Source: The CW

Seeing Cas’s skin scale up the way it does makes me think of Game of Thrones and the curse of the stone men. I hope it’s something Rowena can cure. Crowley’s news is not the greatest: apparently, this yellow eyed demon is actually a Prince of Hell! How is that for a kick in the pants. To top things off, Crowley was the one to gift him with the spear he stabbed Cas with. And it once belonged to Arch Angel Michael; this is really not looking good. Because anyone who knows even the smallest amount about angels know Michael is the ultimate protector, so his weapon would great power. Personally, I have a strong pull to Michael as far as angels go. But in the Supernatural world, he was incapacitated.

Source: The CW

We learn how Crowley was crowned as the King of Hell, as well as how his gifts to this Prince have once again bitten him in the bum. He has tried to gain more pull, and has again, ended up on the chopping block. I now understand why Crowley came to the guys, he wants their help so he too can live. Ramiel, the Prince of Hell just wanted to be left alone. You almost feel bad for him; he was forced into being one of Lucifer’s original soldiers, now when he is trying to fish and just enjoy being Ramiel, in come an angel and a few humans to spoil his day. Now, he has to fulfill his promise to ruin Crowley for not allowing him his peace. How selfish is Mary for not speaking up and risking everyone’s lives?! I can’t imagine the guys will be all too forgiving when the truth is finally revealed. I would be so pissed if my mom were to do something like that. Whether or not she believes she is doing it for the greater good is no excuse not to let them in on what she was doing.

Source: The CW

I’m just glad Sam came through and killed Ramiel. I about cheered when Crowley figured out how to cure Castiel. Being raised by a witch sure comes in handy! But, I can’t help but wonder if the lance would have come in handy later down the line, since they are still up against some cosmic threat. And knowing what they are up against, I can’t believe Mary just handed over the colt to the BML. And when the heck will she spill the beans to her boys that she is a traitor? I sense this is going to send them into a really bad state of mind once she does. I am just glad they have Cas to try and help them keep it together.
