Episode 17 - William Shatner's Toupee! Star Trek TOS

Star Trek: The Original Series Episode! Steve knows nothing, like Jon Snow

Yes, this is Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Vulcan. Thanks to D. Beers of Deviant Art for this!

A Play On Nerds - Episode 17 - William Shatner's Toupee! Star Trek TOS

Steve is overworked, but he pushed through the pain to stay loyal to all you listeners out there!

First we discuss some exciting moon colony news, which Steve quickly ruins with a more disappointing news story in this week's Nerdy News.

Then it's time for Factoid Fumbles once again, and this time around, Jarman truly fumbles his way through. But it's space themed! Because....

Our feature this week is Star Trek The Original Series! This will be a very brief overview of the show and the characters, brimming with inaccuracies and half explanations. Would you expect more from A Play On Nerds?! We discuss the episode Amok Time in particular to show the characters in action.

And now for something completely different! We have another edition of Supercut Showdown! This week Jarman will play clips from tons of different Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and you and Steve have to guess what movie and what character it is! This really shows how ridiculous some of this dialog is.

Then for Trailer Reviews we have Maze Runner, Life After Beth and To Be Takei.

Episode 16 - Transformers: Return of the Explosions

Saturn Creating a New Moon? (Not Twilight...) Dawn of the Awesome Planet of the Apes, and TRANSFORMERS!!! ROBOTS IN YOUR FACE!

A Play On Nerds - Episode 16 - Transformers: Return of the Explosions

Welcome back! After our one week hiatus to celebrate Independence Day, Steve's birthday, and Jarman's anniversary with his girlfriend, we're back and better than ever!

This week we jump into some Nerdy News once again, with Saturns rings producing something new and a defense contractor making some real life Transformers?

Keeping with the theme, Steve presents a new game, Recalling Robots, where Jarman (and you, the audience!) has to guess what show or movie different robots came from, by name alone. I'm sure you could find out a lot about that over at the Rusted Robot Podcast!

Then we jump into the feature, explosions first, talking about everything Transformers, from the cartoons and action figures we played with as kids, to the steaming pile of turd that was Age of Extinction. It's definitely a ride.

Jarman then introduces yet another new game, Supercut Showdown, where we take clips from supercuts of famous films, typically montages of people saying the same lines but in different movies, and you have to guess what actor is saying the line and what movie it is from! This week, it's "You've got to be kidding me!" If you don't get it, you'll just have to listen! Thanks to Screen Junkies for this one.

For Trailer Reviews this week we have Dracula: Untold, Zero Theorum and Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Thanks to the classic hair metal band Lion, for the awesome version of the Transformers theme used throughout the show!

APON Addon 2 - Independence Day Thanks!

No full episode this week because of the 4th of July holiday, so instead, A Play On Nerds gives thanks to you, the fans!

That's the fireworks show I wan to see on the 4th of July... One with Voyager flying through!

A Play On Nerds - APON Addon 2 - Independence Day Thanks!

Episode 15 - Bigfoot and Moon Fights

Is Bigfoot a Multi-Dimensional Alien? What's the Opposite of Thirst? Can Steve Pack a Punch on the Moon? Do Vikings and CGI Mix? Find Out in This Week's Episode!!!

Such a pretty fellow.

A Play On Nerds - Episode 15 - Bigfoot and Moon Fights

In Nerdy News this week we tackle bear home invasions, captured cyrptoids, insect brain food, and our veggie-eating ancestors.

Then we break out the new hilarious segment, Opposite Opposition, where Steve throws out random words that don't have a clear opposite, and Jarman has to think of something equally random that can serve as its opposite. The results are ridiculous.

For our main segment, it's Preternatural Penetration time once again, where Jarman presents a famous case from the history of paranormal events, and Steve plays Scully and pokes holes in the details. In this edition, we cover the famous Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot Video, which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/MKUwdHex1Zs

Then join us for Hypothetical Hubbub once again, where Steve is presented extreme hypothetical situations and must think of some way in which he would react to them. You won't want to miss it this week, as Shaquille O'Neal and moon fighting is involved...

For Trailer Reviews this week, we cover the cheesy Ragnarok, the new longer Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer, and the new Brad Pitt tank war drama, Fury.

A Play On Nerds - Episode 14 - Video Games Through Time

Nerdy News bursts right out of the gate with Steve pointing out some unique DNA finds in chimp mutations over generations, and Jarman finds out that we now  know what Venus smells like! How Useful!

From there we introduce a new member to the A Play On Nerds family, Patrick! He will be out 'Video Game Expert' from here on out, with his new monthly half-hour podcast, Gaming On A Rupee! He'll be reviewing games you can find for free or very cheap, from your small independent games to your big budget micro transaction games. Let him be your guide to the Steam marketplace so you don't spend your time or money on some serious duds.

Steve. Jarman and Patrick then reminisce about games of the past, from Atari all the way up to the current gen consoles, as well as old time PC games. Be nostalgic with us as we explore the universe of Video Games Through Time!

We close the show with our weekly Trailer Reviews. This week, Dumb and Dumber To, the weird and possibly wonderful Birdman, and Sin City 2 take the focus.
